Writing Pains

What if I don't want to write for publication? Is that okay? I mean, can I still be a writer if no one is clamoring to read my work? I didn't place in any of the school's spring writing contests, which I find demoralizing in a way. Now, Ms. Weisman wants us to research a market for our fiction. I don't have anything to send to market; to have to do research on the writing market feels like an insult. Get over it and get to writing, right? Precisely.
