The Shoemaker's children go barefoot. Follow that logic and the Dressmaker wears rags. Doesn't it seem ironic that I of all people am shopping for a formal gown on eBay? I've spent more time rifling through the auction listings than it would have taken me to actually make a dress, even if I had to tote my project over to Mandy's mother's to borrow a sewing machine. I want something really nice, really cheap, and really modest, and in my size. Apparently the those criteria are mutually exclusive. I don't know what I'm going to wear New Year's eve for Lauryl's wedding. She said it was formal. And she should know what she means when she says that. She was a costume major.

What shall I do?
